.The Idea
Have a unique access point for all the relevant content for the South Cone cluster.
.The Business Challenge
Microsoft required having a unique point of access to all the content for South Cone cluster (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay). This access point should allow users to access all the content consisting of a large number of sections through a minimum number of clicks.
.The Solution
A team of 4 people developed a fully customized SharePoint 2007 portal for Microsoft. A collapsible menu was created to implement a quick access to all the sections of the Portal. The Portal included internal surveys, HR calendar, and links to other internal productivity tools. Also a template was developed allowing different business areas to develop their sections within the Portal but at the same time maintaining a uniform look & feel.
A desktop gadget was developed using MS .NET 3.0 and XAML technology, allowing content to be pushed into users’ desktops. |
.Business Benefits
The five countries of the cluster were able to centralize and reuse the internal knowledge. At the same time Microsoft experienced a considerable reduction in the email traffic generated for internal communications (HR, Marketing, Legal, etc.) while improved its distribution and integrated all the countries.
