| .The Idea |
| Better communication between Human Resources and the group employees to foster the idea of one unique team.
|
| .The Business Challenge |
| Grupo Santillana needed an internal Human Resources portal to act as the main internal communication channel. It had to serve to a very diverse audience located across Argentina, but at the same time allow users to find the most relevant information for their daily tasks. Being a media company, a unified brand image was core for the implementation. |
| .The Solution |
A team of 5 people developed a fully customized SharePoint 2007 site for Grupo Santillana. As part of the project the team fully implemented the company Portal, the Human Resources department site, and provided a template to be used by the different business units to implement their sites.
As a desktop extension of the company’s portal, a desktop gadget was developed using MS .NET 3.0 and XAML technology, allowing HR to push selected news into users’ desktops. Single sign-on was implemented using Authentication Integration eliminating the need for users to log into the portal. The application was automatically installed using ClickOnce deployment reducing TCO. |
| .Business Benefits |
| Immediately after implementation Grupo Santillana experienced a more dynamic communication between the employees and HR, reducing conflicts due to poor communication and allowing employees to share ideas with HR. Also employees from different geographies were successfully integrated with the large team as social events and personal information such as anniversaries and births were shared across the entire group’s employee base.
In a subsequent project, Huddle Group expanded this portal to incorporate the access to business process so employees could have a unique entry point to internal tools and services. |
