| .The Idea |
| Develop a portal site for the IT department to be used as a single access point to internal training, news, and calendar material, and to provide functionality to book resources and administer customer service tickets. |
| .The Business Challenge |
| TBS wanted to have a single destination point integrating content and functionality from different systems and having single sign on functionality. |
| .The Solution |
| A company-wide portal was developed based on SharePoint 2007. This portal hosted TBS’ documents and news and acted as the gateway to the IT and NetOps sub-sites, from where users are able to access each department’s specific content and functionality.
A resource allocation tool (for booking resources such as meeting rooms) was fully implemented using SharePoint customized web parts and integration with IT customer service ticket system was developed. |
| .Business Benefits |
| Implementing a central repository for internal knowledge allowed Turner to better share and preserve the information distributed throughout the organization. Collaborative tools fostered the creation of documents as now multiple people could team to author a document. |
